“Amazing place with authentic fresh-from-scratch pizza. The sauce and cheese blend have great flavor. Lots of other places use cheese that tastes like nothing. The cinnamon sticks were soft and loaded with icing – really hit the spot after pizza. Service was excellent, much better experience than anything we’ve ever had from a chain place.”

“Wow. I have to say that at first look, I wasn’t expecting much, it just looked like a regular pizza. But wow, I was blown away by every aspect of the flavor. The SAUCE though. The freshest, most flavorful pizza sauce I’ve ever had. New favorite spot!”

“Great pizza and super friendly service from a family-oriented business! I called their store last minute with an order to feed a group of 30 people. They had me ready to go with a wide variety of fresh and tasty pizzas and cheese breads in about 30 minutes. Store is clean, staff is kind and personable, and food and service was awesome. I highly recommend this place.”

Lombardo's Pizza Origins
For four generations, the Lombardo family has woven a web of pizzerias in western Michigan, creating an impressive pizza dynasty.
Lombardo’s is a long-standing, family-owned pizza tradition in West Michigan, with roots stretching back to the early 1950’s when the family’s patriarch came from Sicily and opened a pizza shop in NYC. He worked tirelessly to send money back to Sicily until his 3 sons could come to America. They then each opened their own pizza shops. One of the sons, Giuseppe Lombardo, connected with two business partners who sold supplies like cheese and pepperoni and helped them when they opened their own pizza shop in 1960, Pizza King on 44th Street in Wyoming, MI. Eventually Giuseppe bought Pizza King from his partners in 1974, renaming it “Joe’s Pizza King” and introducing the family sauce recipe. Today that location is still owned and operated by his son, Jim Sr.
When a number of Giuseppe’s family members emigrated from Sicily after him, including his brother Gino, more pizzerias were soon under way.
The family now oversees several pizzerias under various names in West Michigan. Among these, Nick owns the two outposts of Lombardo’s Pizza in Wyoming and Jenison, John owns Johnny’s Pizza King on 44th St. in Grand Rapids, Jim Jr. has three Lombardo Sicilian Pizza locations (Norton Shores, North Muskegon, and Grand Haven), and Gino’s sons expanded to multiple family locations as well.
At Lombardo’s, we do things the old school way. No pre-making hundreds of pizza dough crusts to store in refrigerators, no screens or conveyors to mass bake pizzas like an assembly line. Every Lombardo’s pizza is hand rolled, fresh to order, made with a bit more yeast and sugar to cook up quickly with a soft, flavorful inside and a crispy crunch on the bottom. Our family recipe sauce is made fresh every day. Once you’ve tried Lombardo’s Pizza, it’s sure to become your favorite.
